Simec Security complete the installation of an access control system designed to restrict tailgating over three sites in Salisbury. During a very busy weekend, the Simec access control team working alongside the Integrated Design installation division completed the installation of twelve controlled lanes, using a variety of turnstiles from the IDL range.

Within the main reception areas IDL Fastlane Glasswing products have been selected for their aesthetic design and high speed operation. At each main entrance a DDA compliant Dual Intelligate has been installed which allows easy site access for wheelchair users, as well as deliveries.

At the unmanned entrance two full height Fastlane Glasswing units (one DDA width) have been installed to ensure access is limited to authorised cardholders only.

Tailgating attempts are detected by an infra red beam matrix within each of the Fastlane units, which alert reception via audible alarm.  In addition, each turnstile alarm is monitored via the Siemens SiPass Integrated access control system which currently controls over 85 proximity readers across the three sites.

Three ACC advanced central controllers (ACC AC5100) link each site over the clients high speed Ethernet. Anti passback zones have been created for each building to ensure Sipass can generate accurate role call reports of staff site attendance in the event of emergency. Proximity readers also restrict access to the site lifts.
